Mayo Beaty Dotson, 96, Wise, Virginia, USA. Return to top WISE, Virginia, USA. - Mayo Beaty Dotson, 96, passed away Wednesday (June 28, 2006) in Penick Village, Southern Pines, N.C. Mrs. Dotson was born in Wise, Virginia, USA. on Oct. 27, 1909 to Mary Flanary Beaty and John Morton Beaty. She attended Hollins and Longwood Colleges in Virginia. She taught school and then married her lifelong sweetheart, Bernard Earl (Buddy) Dotson. They were married for 66 years before his death in 2001. During lengthy pastorates at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, Carthage, Buddy did the preaching and Mayo did the practicing. Later she invited many to attend Brownson, if they did not have a church of their own. Mayo was active in campaigning for and supporting the N.C. Symphony of Moore County and the Moore First Health Hospital Foundation. She did volunteer work at the hospital and served meals at the Shaw House and was a Weymouth supporter and volunteer. Her favorite golf group was the Rainmakers. Surviving are her children, the Rev. Molly Dotson Morgan (husband, Paul) of Reidsville, N.C.; sons, Bernard Earl Dotson Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., and Thomas Young Dotson of Southern Pines, N.C.; garndsons, Melzer Adron Morgan III (wise, Kristi) and Patrick Earl Morgan (his wife, Elizabeth); and great-grandchildren, Lily Reva Morgan, Melzer Adron Morgan IV and IIiana Rose Morgan. Memorial service in celebration of the resurrection of eternal life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Wise, Virginia, USA. with the Rev. Robert Layell officiating. Interment will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Virginia, USA. A second memorial service will be conducted at the Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 330 May St., Southern Pines, N.C., on Sunday at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
